The twin roll press is a type of pulping equipment. The twin roll press has an integrated structure and high processing efficiency, it is widely used for paper pulp washing, paper pulp bleaching, and black liquor processing in the paper and pulp industry.
The Mechanical Structure of Twin Roll Press
The twin roll press is mainly composed of two rollers, the shell, the tank, the spraying device, the lifting device, the longitudinal sealing device, the hydraulic pump, the gearbox, and some other auxiliary parts.
Working Principle of Twin Roll Press
According to different pulp feeding methods, twin roll presses can be divided into two types: type SJA and type SJB.
The pulp is fed into type SJA twin roll press from both sides of the tank by the pump at a pressure of 0.02~0.08MPa. The concentration of the fed pulp is 3.0%~8.0%. The pulp concentration and flow rate are all controlled by reliable automatic control system, so that the pulp concentration and flow rate at both sides are always consistent.
The pulp begins to dehydrate in the pressing zone under the action of the feeding pressure and liquid level difference. The black liquor in the pulp enters into the roller through the filter holes on the roller surface and then is discharged out of the roller through the openings at both ends. On the roller surface, a pulp layer is formed, and with the rotation of the press roller, the pulp contacts with the washing liquid, which replaces the white liquor out from the original pulp. This replacement effect continues until the pulp enters the pressing zone, where the pulp is extruded to 20% – 30% concentration by the two rollers.
The pulp layer leaves the pressing zone and enters into the pulp tank, and is then discharged to the outside of the machine by the crushing screw installed on the upper part of the tank body.
In SJB type twin roll press, the pulp is fed into the press from the bottom of the tank by a pump at a pressure of 0.02~0.08MPa.
After the pulp enters the pulp tank, the black liquor in the pulp close to the rollers enters into the roller through the filter hole on the roller surface under the action of the pulp feeding pressure, and then discharges through the openings at both ends of the roller. A continuous pulp layer is formed on the roller surface, and with the rotation of the press roller, the pulp enters the pressing zone formed between the two rollers, in which the pulp is extruded to 20% ~ 35% concentration. Finally, the pulp is discharged outside by the crushing screw shredder.
